Welcome to the Cape Verde DNA Project!

The Republic of Cape Verde is an archipelago consisting of nine islands off the western coast of Africa. The Portuguese began colonization of the islands in the 1460's, and among the Portuguese nobles, settlers include the Spanish, Italians, Portuguese Jews, and African slaves.

A República de Cabo Verde é um arquipélago de nove ilhas ao largo da costa oeste de África. As ilhas foram colonizadas pelos Portugueses por volta de 1460. Entre os seus povoadores encontrava-se nobres Portugueses, Judeus Portugueses, Espanhóis, Italianos e escravos Africanos.

The Cape Verde DNA Project is an independent genealogical research study that currently receives no grant underwriting, and participants are responsible for the costs of their own tests. The project was organized as a cooperative effort for those who wish to explore genetic testing to advance their knowledge of deep and recent family heritage.

O Projecto DNA de Cabo Verde é um estudo genealógico independente. O Projecto não recebe actualmente nehuma subvenção. Todos os participantes são responsáveis pelo custo dos seus testes/exames. O Projecto fui organizado em cooperação com todos aqueles que querem explorar exames/testes genéticos para aprofundar o conhecimento dos seus antepassados longínquos e mais recentes.
