Understanding the Results

The DYS value numbers in red are considered to be "fast-moving" markers, which means they are more susceptible to an increased rate of mutation.  The average mutation rate for Y-chromosome DNA is .002%.

Haplogroups (Ethnic Origins)

Haplogroup R1b - The most common Western European haplogroup.

Haplogroup  I -  Common among Scandinavian populations and those countries that have been influenced by Viking invasions and migrations, i.e.: Scotland, Ireland, etc.  This haplogroup may prove to be a common one among the many descendants of early Laurens' Scotch-Irish settlers.
