Thomas Fuller

Thomas Fuller was born 20 Jan 1619 in Redenhall, England, the son of Rafe/Ralph Fuller and Elizabeth Eliot.  Robert Fuller of Reheboth was apparently Thomas' oldest brother.  Ensign Thomas Fuller immigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1637, and was admitted to the town of Dedham in 1642.   He purchased land owned by Martin Phillips.

On 22 Nov 1643, Thomas married Hannah Flower.  The only information located so far concerning Hannah Flower is a reference to her and her children in the will of Margaret Kingsbury, wife of Mayflower passenger John Kingsbury. Margaret Kingsbury referred to Hannah Flower as her niece.

Thomas Fuller owned a considerable amount of land, which was used for both farming and grazing.  However, that was by no means his only occupation.  On 1 Jan 1650, he was chosen to be a Town Surveyor and held that position for many years.  In 1651 "Br. Kingsberry [Kingsbury, his wife's uncle] is desired to treat with Tho: Fuller concerning the works of a gager to know whether he haue any considerabl reason to refuse that worke."  In 1652 "Liefts: Daniel Fisher and Thomas Fuller are deputed to survey the length of the water course Through the Broade meadow".

He was hired to survey the area between Watertown and Dedham to determine the boundaries in 1661.  In 1664 Thomas was chosen to serve on a committee to look for the most reasonable route for a road between Cambridge, Mass. and Dedham, Mass.  He became the recording secretary for the town council on 11 Jan 1672, and served in that capacity for some years.  In his later years he served as the town's representative to the Massachusetts Bay Colony governing body.

Thomas Fuller died 28 Sep 1690, age 71, in Dedham, Mass.
